After finishing work as a sommelier Anders Frederik Steen started making wine alongside Jura legend Jean-Marc Brignot and it is in remarkable oxidative wines such as this that the influence is most apparent. This is Pinot Gris from Alsace that spent a couple of years untouched in an old barrique in the cellar of Anders' friend Laurent Bannwarth. The elevage has lent this wine a great deal of complexity, through a veritable kaleidescope of green citrus, minerals and spice. A wine that left us scratching our heads with delight.

Anders Frederik Steen
Anders Frederik Steen used to be a sommelier in his native Denmark, responsible for writing some of the best wine lists in the world at places like Relae, Manfreds and Noma. A few years ago he began making a handful of one-off wines with legendary nomadic producer Jean-Marc Brignot and the rest as they say, is history. He now lives with his family in the village of Valvignères in the Ardèche, producing highly original wines from some of the region’s most beautiful vineyards.
