Cristiano Guttarolo farms are a couple of hectares of Primitivo in a little village in Puglia called Gioia del Colle. The plants grown on a plateau about 450 metres above sea level and the elevation and pure limestone soils lend his wines a finesse we don't often associate with the grape. This spent just a few days on skins before being pressed off to terracotta amphora to rest for six months. Delicate and fragrant, it has a wonderful lightness on the palate and a long, chalky finish. A unique take on this much maligned grape.

Cristiano Guttarolo makes Puglian wines that taste like no other. His vineyards are planted at elevation on a limestone plateau which lends his wines, based on local grapes like Primitivo, Negormaro, Susumaniello and Verdeca are rare freshness and palpable energy.
