Grenache and Mourvèdre from a vineyard high up in the hills above Collioure, crushed by foot and allowed to macerate for just three days to leave a wine behind which hints at the power those two grapes are famed for albeit on a far brighter, sunnier frame rich in herbal black fruits.
Vinyer de la Ruca
Manuel de Vecchi Starez is a native of Tuscany who around a decade ago moved to France to farm some extremely low-yielding old bush vines in the hills above Banyuls-sur-Mer. He’s an uncompromising man and his wines are deep expressions of this rugged terrain.
