The Pecorino is the least famous of the Pepe families wines, but also the rarest. This comes from young vines planted by the Pepe's in 2006 and has only been made since the 2010 harvest, planted over the region's characteristic clay-limestone soils. Less structured than the Trebbiano, with a little bit of age this has a similar mineral imprint, with heightened flavours of citrus and herbs.
Emidio Pepe
The Pepe family have been growing grapes between the Adriatic Sea and the Appenine Mountains in Abruzzo since the late 1800’s. They work the vineyards biodynamically, producing soulful, old-school wines that taste as if they were from another age. Their takes on Trebbiano, Montelpulciano and more recently, Pecorino are nothing short of epic and are built to age.
