A firm favourite wine of ours from Axel that began its life as his ‘Brutal’ cuvée years ago. This is the first picking of Cinsault which was macerated for just a couple of days in whole bunches within the press. Although a little darker than previous vintages, reflecting the heat around harvest time, this deep rosé is still hugely refreshing and is a bottle we always reach for as we head to warmer days.
Axel Prüfer
Axel Prüfer’s lightness of touch means that, on tasting, it is almost impossible to believe that wines of such energy and freshness come from the often drought-afflicted hills of his adopted home in the Languedoc. Axel works primarily with cinsault planted amongst dense forest and over a dazzling array of quartz and granite soils, and his bottles feel like they have years ahead of them.
