Jacques Lassaigne’s Vignes de Montgueux (pronounced mon-guh) is a blend taken from 8 parcels across this small village just to the east of Troyes, at the very start of an endlessly flat expanse of land which stretches all the way to Paris. Despite that assortment of parcels this is laser-precise, pure Chardonnay that shows rich, salty citrus. Zero dosage.

Jacques Lassaigne

The 3.5ha of old Chardonnay vines owned by the Lassaigne family - before current custodian Emmanuel his father Jacques was at the helm - are responsible for producing some of the most crystalline, laser-precise wines in Champagne. Despite the international renown that the family’s wines enjoy now, the going hasn’t always been so easy - the estate almost disappeared at the end of the 90s - and as a result every time we pop one of the bottles now we’re perhaps extra grateful for the chance to taste these wonderful grower champagnes.
