Perhaps the greatest wine ever made at Le Coste, from the vintage of a lifetime. This is Aleatico from a tiny, 70 year old parcel of ungrafted vines that spend two years in a single barrel and four years in magnum before release. It is a rich, powerful wine of staggering complexity, pairing the exuberant fruit and flowers for which the grape is known with a deep minerality to create something otherworldly. Bottled only in magnum in tiny quantities, we are very happy to have a little of this.
Le Coste
Clementine Bouveron and Gianmarco Antonuzzi met in France while working for the legendary Gerard Schueller in Alsace. After years working with some of France’s top producers, they decided to move back Gianmarco’s village of Gradoli on the shores of Lake Bolsena in Lazio’s north and apply what they had learnt to the local grapes that grow on the regions lively volcanic soils. These two are responsible for some of the most original and delicious wines we have tried.
