It seems to us that Hervé Ravera is truly a farmer before he’s a winemaker. Working his vines with his horse (the ridiculously named Reggae Nights) you really feel that the hard yards are put in year-round to produce fruit of the utmost quality. That shines through here, in his Gamay, a wine which drinks with the vibrant, profound quality of one of Beaujolais’ old masters.
