This is more piercing, laser-precise Chardonnay from the Labet family. Les Champs Rouges (the red fields) comes from vines planted in the late 60’s that are now, thanks to the family’s commitment to holistic agricultural practices, producing fruit of rare quality.
Alain Labet is one of the unsung heroes of Jurassic wine. As one of the area’s first winemakers to concentrate on vinifying wines from individual sites (alongside the likes of Pierre Overnoy) he set a standard that his children Julien, Charline and Romain, who he handed control of the estate to in the early 2000’s have followed and perhaps, even managed to exceed.
