The unrelenting warmth of 2018 is on show here in this deliciously dense, savoury riff on the rare Syrah clone, Serinne (otherwise known as Petite Sirah). This is a wine that, while approachable in its youth, feels like it will really reward in a couple of years when the black pepper-flecked fruit will truly come into its own.

Anders Frederik Steen

Anders Frederik Steen used to be a sommelier in his native Denmark, responsible for writing some of the best wine lists in the world at places like Relae, Manfreds and Noma. A few years ago he began making a handful of one-off wines with legendary nomadic producer Jean-Marc Brignot and the rest as they say, is history. He now lives with his family in the village of Valvignères in the Ardèche, producing highly original wines from some of the region’s most beautiful vineyards.
