Quite simply this is timeless wine. Due to the way this is made, with Savagnin juice being boiled down to achieve and intensely flavoured must (before being fortified and bottled) this is a style that will live on and on whether the bottle is open or not - we’ve drunk from bottles that have been open for months on end that still show ridiculously clean character.
Domaine Labet
Alain Labet is one of the unsung heroes of Jurassic wine. As one of the area’s first winemakers to concentrate on vinifying wines from individual sites (alongside the likes of Pierre Overnoy) he set a standard that his children Julien, Charline and Romain, who he handed control of the estate to in the early 2000’s have followed and perhaps, even managed to exceed.
