Melon le Rouge Queue is a local variety which despite its name is not related to Melon de Bourgogne ( as one might expect ) but it is a forgotten cousin of Chardonnay, that got its name from its reddish vine stems. It is such a minuscule variety that even the French wine bureau do not officially recognise it. The taste profile is rich and smooth with gentle oxidative notes, which we really enjoy. This is the stuff.
Philippe Bornard
Philippe Bornard was one of the Pupillin’s most prolific grape growers before the legendary figure of Pierre Overnoy encouraged him to take the leap into turning those grapes into his own wines. Since then his bottles have gathered a cult-like following from every corner of the globe and its easy to see why - these Jurassien wines of incomparable character and verve that reward whenever we’re lucky enough to hold of them.
