The 2009 vintage in Abruzzo was punctuated by an unusual lack of sunshine and no little rain, undeterred by such unusual conditions Emidio Pepe and his team set about making wine the same way they always have. This has left the wines from that vintage, even after all this time, with a marked freshness and vitality, so expect the wild black fruits and savour, umami character lifted by a fine line of acidity.

Emidio Pepe
The Pepe family have been growing grapes between the Adriatic Sea and the Appenine Mountains in Abruzzo since the late 1800’s. They work the vineyards biodynamically, producing soulful, old-school wines that taste as if they were from another age. Their takes on Trebbiano, Montelpulciano and more recently, Pecorino are nothing short of epic and are built to age.
