Chardonnay is crushed over the course of four days in another wine that shows the fruits of Anders’ experiments with the ultra-long presses and maceration. There’s plenty of citrus zest and surprisingly fresh, dry character in what’s otherwise a rich, detailed wine of firm tannins.

Anders Frederik Steen

Anders Frederik Steen used to be a sommelier in his native Denmark, responsible for writing some of the best wine lists in the world at places like Relae, Manfreds and Noma. A few years ago he began making a handful of one-off wines with legendary nomadic producer Jean-Marc Brignot and the rest as they say, is history. He now lives with his family in the village of Valvignères in the Ardèche, producing highly original wines from some of the region’s most beautiful vineyards.
