A true rarity from Manuel, this is a blend of Grenache and Mourvedre from a vineyard planted on a steep slope in Cosprons, not so far from Banyuls. This spent a couple of weeks on skins, before being pressed off to an old barrel for a year of rest. It is a little lighter and brighter than Manuel's wines from Banyuls, with beautiful acidity amongst the wildness of it's fruit.
Manuel de Vecchi Starez is a native of Tuscany who around a decade ago moved to France to farm some extremely low-yielding old bush vines in the hills above Banyuls-sur-Mer. He’s an uncompromising man and his wines are deep expressions of this rugged terrain.
